Post Thanksgiving

We had a great time on Turkey day with friends and family, as I`m sure most of you did as well . Now that we`ve all made it through "black friday", and cyber monday, lets get back to bloging about our homes. Quick tip of the day: exterior holiday decorations,(electrical), need to be hooked up in a UL approved serge protector. The serge protector also needs to be weather resistant. Some people ask me why their breakers keep tripping, and that`s usually the reason. Moisture intrusion, or too many extension cords. Also check your extension cords for nicks and frays. That can also cause breaker trips, not to mention being a fire hazzard. Be well and be SAFE !

The Waters Have Receded !

I have to tell you , the combination of rain and high tides around our neck of the woods , has been a pain in the A** ! Anybody who lives in the mid-atlantic region knows what I`m talking about . We live in a beach community and this past week we,( in this area), have had roads washed out, deep standing water, basement floods, etc.. Sorry for not posting, but I`ve had my hands full at my own place and helping my neighbors. Speaking of flooding, that brings me to the blog tip : If you`ve experienced some flooding at your property, dry out your crawlspace/basement as quickly as possible to prevent the formation of mold. Not only is mold dangerous to the very young and elderly, it can be distructive to your structural components as well. Moisture is one of the most destructive forces in nature .

Jimmy

Hey Blogers,
For my NASCAR readers- Sorry for Jimmy`s Luck on this past weekends race. Lap three, who would have guessed ? Does anybody out there think he wearing a larger than normal target on his back ?
Home improvement tip for the day- It`s coming that time of year when we want to plug in 15 things in a 2 plug outlet. One word of advice- DON`T . Use a UL certified multi-plug in device, that will at least cut down you`re risk of fire. BE SAFE ! The right hand side of my blog page offers an Ebay button where you can find lots of books on home improvement and home safety. Check one out today.
