It`s Cold Out There !

Colder months are upon us . Soon we will be scraping those wind shields and wrapping up the kids at the bus stop. If you have not already - change those furnace filters. If you`re not familiar with the workings of you`re furnace/heater system, always consult a pro. To change out you`re systems filters and clean intake coils is not that hard, but some people get a little intimidated. It`s not very expensive at all to call an HVAC company in to do this sort of maintenance.
For all the people out there,( me included), that suppliment their primary heat with wood burning appliances, please make sure all flues/dampers/and chimneys are cleaned BEFORE you fire them up. Stay warm safely!

Check out some items up for sale on my Ebay page . I have some great e-books on home improvement and how-tos. SPREAD THE WORD PLEASE!!!! Tip for today : You`re home is you`re best asset, make sure the `ol homestead is ready for winter by removing waterhose(s) from exterior spigots. Then drain the water from the hose . This will help prevent the hose from splitting. This holds true even if you keep the hose(s) in one of those real-up type boxes. If you`re hose(s) have not split by now, consider yourself lucky !

Just a quick and friendly reminder,(or maybe two), people- old man winter is right around the corner, so make sure you have the right amount of insulation installed in you`re house. Tip: R-30 in attic areas , and R-19 in crawl spaces. If you have any open holes in you`re foundation , you can use the expandable can foam products. If you need you`re home inspected to see if you`re ready for winter, drop me a line and I will be more than happy to give you some great advice.

With health care on everyones minds, I feel it has taken the focus off of one of the major factors that helps to drive our economy- HOUSING. The economist claim that the housing market is making a turn around, but recovery will be slow. What happens when the governments` " bail-out" money and first time home buyers program funds run out ? Will people once again have mortgages that they can`t afford? Give me you`re thoughts!
